Alleged Sony Ericsson Nozomi official render leaks

Alleged Sony Ericsson Nozomi official render leaks
From the confines of Chinese forums we found this little excerpt from what is claimed to be an official picture of theSony Ericsson Nozomi. The side render coincides with what we've seen leaked in flesh and blood in the wild before, and confirms the phone is coming in white.

Granted, the image is very small, and the technical specifications are cut out, but you can still see the word "Dual" which would confirm once again that we might be having the first mutlicore Android handset from the company in the face of the Sony Ericsson Nozomi. Another proof is the 1920x1xxx line under the camera section, which would imply 1080p HD video capture that we usually associate with dual-core handsets.

Actually, Nozomi or LT26i are popular as its codename, whereas the phone's title will end up something else if the letters above the handset are to be believed. Whoever guesses what these letters are gets a round of applause. As a reminder, we should also get a 12MP camera with the handset, and HD display, plus Android Ice Cream Sandwich with the Timescape UI color scheme, as is evident from the lock screen in this supposedly official press render.

Sony Ericsson LT22i Nypon to feature a dual-core NovaThor chipset and qHD display

Sony Ericsson LT22i Nypon to feature a dual-core NovaThor chipset and qHD display

There is something brewing over at Sony Ericsson. After the company announced that it will buy Ericsson's part in the venture, now additional details have leaked for one more phone to the ones that were unearthed the other day, and the specs are quite different from what we are used to see in the Xperia line.

The UAProfile has the Sony Ericsson LT22i, which is codenamed Nypon, as having a qHD 540x960 pixels display, which will be a first for an Xperia Android phone from the company. Right off the bat this is placing it between the current WVGA and the upcoming HD screens from Sony Ericsson.

What piqued our interest most, though, is that the Sony Ericsson LT22i Nypon is rumored to come with anST-Ericsson NovaThor dual-core chipset, instead of the Qualcomm Snapdragon line the company has been using so far for its Android lineup. STE is a joint-venture between STMicro and Ericsson, and is the other chipset manufacturer besides Qualcomm that does true SoCs, complete with the baseband radio.

Coincidentally the folks over at ST-Ericsson just outed a video that demonstrates how Android ICS runs on a 1GHz dual-core NovaThor platform with 512MB of RAM, streaming music via its HSPA modem. The video below is with the hardware acceleration disabled, so the end result should be more fluid.

We'd also imagine that the Sony Ericsson LT22i Nypon would come cheaper than the flagships like Nozomi, since it will sport a qHD instead of HD display, and ST-Ericsson could be clamoring to stick their foot in the chipset door with NovaThor, undercutting Qualcomm's silicon prices to get there.

SE Italy says Android 4.0 ICS coming to Xperia devices by March 2012

Android ICSNow that Sony Ericsson has confirmed Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) will arrive on all 2011 Xperia models, the attention turns to timing. Well according to Maurizio De Palma, Sony Ericsson Italy’s Head of Marketing, the update will arrive by March 2012 according to a Facebook posting.
If Sony Ericsson sticks to launching their Xperia flagships in March (like they have done for the last two years), then this date would surprise us.
Call us cynical, but there is no way Sony Ericsson would release the Android 4.0 update prior to the release of its new models. If I was in charge of Sony Ericsson, I know I certainly wouldn’t. It would risk deflating sales of the upcoming models and give much less incentive to upgrade. That means one of two things, 1) either the ICS update will launch after March or 2) next year’s Xperia models will launch earlier than March. Of course, Sony Ericsson could surprise us and release new models/software at the same time, but we just don’t see that happening.

1. This is my personal ROM. I just want to share it with everybody. You can report bugs here, but don't force me to fix them. I fix what I need. For example, I don't use FM Radio, so if there's a problem with it, I will probably never fix.
2. I am not responsible for any bugs caused by your custom fixes. Use custom fixes at your own risk!
